What’s in a hug?
When I really gave this question some thought, I surprised myself. Hugs are something we need as people to cope, happy or sad. We yearn for a hug when we are down, we reach for a hug in celebration and we crave a hug when we need more comfort than words can offer us. Hugs speak fluent in all languages, and you can never give or get too many. This is how I truly feel.
Hug; an act of holding someone tightly in one’s arms, typically to express affection
It’s funny how a mothers hug can be a cure for almost anything. I find with Sofia Marie that a simple hug after a fall, or toddler dispute, is just enough to calm her down, to the point where we can take over with out words. This is how I structure toddler communication in this house. It starts with a hug, seamlessly works it’s way into explanations and reasoning, sealing the deal with another hug and we’re back on earth, cool, calm and collected. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t always go this smoothly, but I truly believe that taking a loving approach when dealing with toddler troubles will end on a much happier note than any other way.
As soon as I heard about Big Hugs Elmo, I knew I’d see it all over this years Christmas Wish List. Although too young to see it in written words, I knew Sofia would let me know in anyway she could that this was needed in our household. I accept this request with open arms *literally*
When the opportunity came knocking to share our experience with our very own Big Hugs Elmo, I accepted quickly.
He arrived. We squealed. We hugged.
The Big Hugs Elmo is truly one of the neatest stuffed toys I’ve seen, it’s no wonder it also got the PTPA sign of approval. He reacts based on how he is held, he keeps children engaged by saying over 50 phrases, singing songs, dreaming up scenarios encouraging imaginary play. What I though was the sweetest was when he is placed on his back, in the laying position, he winds down for bed, singing lullaby’s and making soothing sounds, encouraging sleep. We all know how important that is…. FOR US!
What I am really saying here is Big Hugs Elmo has won his way into our homes, arms, and hearts! This is why I am so excited to share with you all that we are GIVING ONE AWAY on Little Miss Mama. Starting today, running until October 18th, have your chance at winning you babes their very own Big Hugs Elmo! I’ll be giving one away this month AND next month! So stick around, you’re going to get 2 chances at winning!
