Gallagher Lake Campground has officially been deemed in our top 3 sites we’ve ever stayed in British Columbia. With another favorite being Nk’Mip RV Park in Osoyoos and Riverside Campground in Whistler.
The campsite offers so much for families coming to stay there; from a private sandy beach to beautifully manicured sites, multiple playgrounds, amazing staff and the most adorable and STOCKED little campground convenience store for you to shop necessities at (should you forget anything).
If you are considering a trip to the Okanagan this year then Gallagher Lake Campground should be at the top of your list.
ABOUT GALLAGHER LAKE CAMPGROUND
The absolute only downside to this campground (if it can be considered as a negative) is that it is 5 hours away from Vancouver. Located in South Okanagan (10 minutes from Oliver) it makes for quite the trek out and should you be traveling with littles that should be taken into consideration.
If you plan for a few pit-stops and take lots of travel games in the car and download movies for the little humans in the row(s) behind you, you should make it there alive. Just barely.
Gallagher Lake Campground is open all-year-round and offers nature-seekers cabin rentals, tent sites, and both full and partial hook-up RV sites. We stayed in a full-hook up site, site 35 which is closest to the beach and let me tell you, we felt pretty special considering it’s views.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM GALLAGHER LAKE
Gallagher Lake offer a on-site laundromat, public washrooms, showers, free wifi, and a dumping station. They has all the amenities one could ever wish for when they research a campground. A private sandy beach, tennis and pickle ball court, soccer field, 2 playgrounds, horseshoes, fishing and a beautiful little picnic area.
As you arrive to your site, you will have no reason at all to get in your vehicle again until your check-out day. And that day is a sad sad day, let me tell you.
One of the sweet little touches that got me was the herb gardens sprinkled around the property. Stocked with any fresh herb you could ever need – we snipped a few bits of fresh cilantro for burgers one night. So fun! We thought it would be just the cutest little task to give the kids before each meal. Sending them off to find the herbs needed to elevate the camp meal to the next level.
One of the most impressive things about Gallagher Lake Campground was how clean the staff kept the resort. Truly one of the cleanest campgrounds we’ve stayed at. The beaches were raked every night, the plants and flowers around the grounds watered and trimmed and the large pine trees manicured so beautifully.
The staff not only were on top of everything but an absolute joy to chat with if you had a chance. Cleo and Tisha were 2 of our favorites there! We hope to see them again on our next trip.
Which by the way is already booked!
THINGS TO DO AROUND GALLAGHER LAKE
With so much to see and do at Gallagher Lake Campground, I’m not sure you will want to leave. But should you get he itch to check out the surrounding area, you won’t get bored; especially if you like wine.
I wouldn’t even be able to list all the wineries that Oliver has to offer, I feel like that would be a blog post all in itself. I will leave you with this link that should help you get started.
Another few local attractions to Gallagher Lake is Tickleberry’s Ice Cream, Golden Mile Fruit Market, and Vaseaux Lake. But if you ask me, you’re already sitting on the most perfect lake already. No need to travel to another one.
OUR FINAL THOUGHTS
If it were possible to dream up the most perfect family campsite in British Columbia, this would be it. It has everything you may or may not need, plus more. It’s beauty will have you in awe and their community herb gardens will keep you eating like royalty.
If you have the opportunity to visit the South Okanagan anytime soon I highly recommend Gallagher Lake Campground. You will NOT be disappointed.
