The other afternoon Sofia and I were craving a day of crafts, baking, or anything that got out hands dirty, mouths smiling, and tummys happy. It’s not until we stept outside did I realize staying in where there was ac was not only the best idea but safest option too. Off to the dollar store to pick up a few things for our afternoon in the kitchen; dixie cups, and wooden popsicle sticks.
INGREDIENTS Frozen Fruit :: Vanilla Ice Cream :: Milk :: Honey
SUPPLIES Dixie Cups :: Popsicle Sticks
Arriving home, we dug into the freezer and found three of Sofia’s favorite fruits, pineapple, raspberries, and strawberries, grabbed the vanilla ice cream, milk, and a bit of honey. Dusted off the baby bullet and threw in our first concoction, pineapple chunks, some vanilla ice cream, a splash of homo milk, and a squeeze of honey. blended, tasted, perfected, and then began the laying process in our dixie cups. Layer one, pineapple, placed it in the freezer to just setup a tad, gave it 10 minutes and then sprinkled it with some raspberries bits hanging around in the bottom of the bag, back in she went for another 10. Meanwhile we blended another little layer of strawberries, ice cream, milk and honey, pulled our cups back out one last time and filled them to the top with our strawberry layer. Placed our popsicle sticks just so and let the freezer do the rest of the work.
THE VERDICT :: Easiest popsicle extraction ever, and let’s be honest this means more than the actual taste. Simply tear the top of the cup and pull it off; no running it under a warm running tap to release it, and no fighting with pulling the stick too hard and removing it all together. Sofia’s exact words were “mama, this is the best thing we’ve ever made, we’ll eat this for dinner too, kay?”
Have you ever made your own popsicles at home? If so, what concoctions were successful and what were a total flop, I’m sure their are a few out there, with Sofia’s imagination I bet we will hit one sooner or later?
Those look delicious, she looks so cute eating them 🙂
What a light and lovely post. Can’t wait to try these with my boys (the layering and use of Dixie cups is perfect).
