Born and raised on Canadian soil yet I still can’t figure out how to keep my feet warm in Winter. However, what I don’t struggle with is finding the closest Tim Hortons to warm up in. Nothing like a cuppa’ tea and a sprinkled donut to warm the soul.
If anyone is going to share some Winter Care secrets with the world, it should be a Canadian. Today I’m stepping up to the virtual plate sharing our Top 5 Winter Care tips to keep warm, stay moisturized and enjoy the cold weather. Okay, so the last one is optional, you don’t have to enjoy it, but I will help you in getting through it.
Our family vacations every Winter in Whistler. We’ve been going even since before Sofia was born. There is nothing like walking Whistler Village, snow falling, warm bevvy in hand, shopping from store to store only stopping to fill you belly with delicious food. While I paint an insta-worthy picture for you with words, it’s important to realize it’s also -7! I’ve learnt many lessons along the way in vacationing in Whistler over the Winter. Sharing them without a doubt sounds like a brilliant idea.
Top 5 Winter Care Tips
MOISTURIZE LIKE A BOSS
Is there anything worst than dry ichy skin while being freezing cold. Moisturizing a few times a day with a good moisturizer means you will only have to deal with freezing part. However, leave a set of cute gloves in your purse and you may even be able to dodge that bullet too.

SEAL IT WITH LIP BALM
Keep those lips sealed with a thick lip balm all day long. Apply, apply and re-apply; it’s the name of the game. In addition, if you’re like me and like to take things next level, exfoliating your lips twice a week will prevent chapping. I’ve got a great little recipe here for two easy lip scrubs which also happens to be one of our most popular pins on pinterest.

YOUR NEW BESTFRIEND; THE POCKET WARMER
Sometimes gloves are just not enough. Even those cute ones you got from your secret santa. They will fail you when you need them most, however that’s when pocket warmers will come to the rescue. Tuck a set of these in those adorable gloves of you’ll be back in action. In addition they come in a set of boot warmers for those of you, like me, who just can’t keep those toes from going frozen solid.
Hand Warmers: Amazon US / Amazon Can
-easy to use and long lasting. shake these little packets to activate and put them in your gloves for up to 10 hours of warm cozy contiual heat.
NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY LAYER
I’ve been dressing in layers way before it became fashionable. Now that I think of it, I bet the trend was first discovered by a Canadian. Layering your clothing allow you to undress without breaking any laws. Going from inside to outside can play havoc with your body temperature, however layers can help with that. Take off what you need, one layer at a time until you’re comfortable and safe for all eyes.
TAKE PREVENTATIVE MEASURES
If you want to be really on your Winter Care game, I suggest picking up a few items to keep onhand. Preventaive planning if you will. This weather can play tricks on our lips, skin, hands and feet, but let’s not forget our eyes and nose. These days of colder weather means it’s only a matter of time we catch a cold. Keeping a nose spray in the house for those stuffed nose days ahead. And having a good eye drop in your purse will ease those dry eyes. Cold winds and dry indoor heating is not ideal situtations for them, especially once that require glasses or contacts. Show them some love too.

Overall, I hope that our Winter Care tips help you keep warm this winter. These Canadian Winters have taught me a lot. Including when to throw in the towel and just STAY HOME where it’s warm an cozy.
