I didn’t get my first pair of eyeglasses until the 8th grade.
Nervous about what I would look like in them but excited about seeing faces versus flesh colored blobs. This wearing eyeglasses thing was all very new to me. But by 9th grade I wanted the glasses off my face and contacts in my eyes STAT! I never looked to glasses as an accessory, not like I do today. Sadly, I got sick of wearing them quickly.
Now, 20 years later and I’ve been wearing contacts ever since.
I wear night and day contacts. Contacts that you can (and I do) leave in for 30 days. Wear them day and night. They’re the most breathable contacts on the market however having said that, I’m certain my eyes could use a real breather. Like a once a day naked eyes breather at the end of the day and while I sleep. I mean my eyes do a lot for me, I guess I sorta’ owe them.
DID YOU KNOW? While it takes some time for most parts of your body to warm up to their full potential, your eyes are on their “A game” 24/7.
I didn’t need to do any major research to realize my eyes do a lot for me and giving them a breather each day was a solid plan. After getting the girls off to bed each night, I could just include it into my nightly routine. Wash my face, take off my contacts, put on my glasses, steep myself a cup of tea and sit down to work. Throw in a cute pair of eyeglasses and maybe, just maybe you might catch my giving my eyes a breather during the day too.
20 years since I purchased a pair of glasses, not going to lie, I was a bit anxious about the whole process. I had already gone in to my local optometrist and had my eyes checked and prescription updated. Now was the part I was fearing picking frames and to see just how much my style had changed in 20 years. I purchased my frames with Clearly and have just had the best experience from start to finish.
DID YOU KNOW? Clearly is the largest online eyewear company in the world with a mission to make vision correction accessible worldwide? They have a buy one, give one initiative that means when you buy a pair for yourself they will donate a pair of glasses to someone in need.
They have a great face shape guide that helps with choosing frames that work for your face. This is especially helpful when you’ve not purchased glasses in a while. Out of the two frames I purchased, one was my first choice and the other a pair they recommended. Would you guess I like their suggestion best? Another thing I noticed, all the eyeglasses are very affordable. Mind blowing considering what they sometimes charge instore. ((USE CODE LITTLEMISS FOR 30% OFF))
Got to say I’m really loving this new routine of mine. I knew getting eyeglasses was the adult thing to do for my eyes, so happy I did. It was no where near as daunting as I made it out to be at the start. Like many things we seem to do in life. If you’re a contact wearer like myself and don’t have eyeglasses for giving those eyeballs of yours a breather… DO IT! Your eyes have over 2 million moving parts and contain around 107 million light sensitive cells. They also have 7 million cones which help you see colour and detail and 100 million cells called rods which help you to see better in the dark. The least you could do is give them a breath of fresh air at night.
