Did you know our first website, the one before Tairalyn.com was simply a tea review blog? While I feel like I may not be as qualified as your grandmother to review teas. I would confidently say I am your next best option. I have been drinking tea since I was a toddler. It’s just the 87 year wisdom I lack.
I promise, no ‘back in the day’ stories from this tea granny. Just the straight goods on if this tea is going to change your life or not. Therefore, onto the Tea Review…
Company: The Great Wall Tea Company
Tea Name: Double Cream Earl Grey +Lavender
Type & Description: Black Tea
Double Cream Earl Grey is a flavored black tea with vanilla and cold-pressed Mediterranean bergamot. A recipe developed by a Canadian west-coaster, it’s excellent on its own, or with milk/mylk and/or a hint of sweetener. Try it with a sprinkling of lavender tossed in while steeping for some dynamic floral top notes. Steep anywhere from 3-5 minutes if drinking clear, to upwards of 10 minutes if you’re adding milk.
Tea Origin: Sri Lanka
Today’s Tea Accompaniments: a teaspoon of white sugar and a generous serving of vanilla almond milk.
Tea Rating: Five (5)
5 for the best and 1 for the worst
Liquor Color: prior to adding any additional flavorings (milk and sugar) the color of the liquor is a rich bright amber tone.
Aroma: it’s scent will put you in a trance (it does to me every time). Stops you dead in your tracks and instantly gives you this warm and comforting, sweet intoxicating smell that I can only assume is near impossible to duplicate. As a result, it’s my favorite tea.
Taste: It’s rich and smooth, subtly sweet, with soft floral notes. Rather unlike a lot of other black tea’s we’re used to, it’s not at all malty or even that bold. Above all it’s the perfect cup of tea to wake up to and get your morning started.
This is where things get a bit, well… unfair.
So, if you’re interested in trying the Double Cream Earl Grey from The Great Wall Tea Company, you’ll have to be a local. While they are currently building a site for online sales, it’s not yet open for business. Most importantly though, it’s in the works!
However, when you stumble on a tea this good, from a company with true tea values like The Great Wall Tea Company, you share them with the world anyway. And to make up for it, you give some of their tea away!
After that, do we hate me less now?
