Outdoor entertaining is something we find ourselves doing a lot over the Spring and Summer months. So much so I would consider us “the” party house; and I mean that in the least frat-house sort of way. We love being that house that everyone ends up gravitating too, it nice to know other are that comfortable in our home, means all the little things we do to make our house feel like a home are working. >> Now being “that house” means you have to be ready at any given moment, saving yourself from always having to run out every other given moment. This is why sodastream has come in handy far more than a few times in the last 3 months; yes I am officially saying that I owe some of my sanity to sodastream.
…did you know that sodastream does not require electricity, it’s wireless. makes for easy packing and lugging around to your favorite picnic spots and even a weekend away camping.
Two weekends ago we went to Whistler for 3 days and you’d better believe I didn’t leave home without our Sodastream. We packed it, along with a few of our favorite syrups and off we went. We were sipping on bubbles all weekend; mum and I straight bubbly water and Sammy and my dad on Ginger-Ale and Pink Grapefruit. No purchase of additional beverages needed, other than the odd Starbucks run for our earl grey lattes. We were set!
So much sodastream love got me thinking, “what else could I use it for”. My brain was working overtime and I came up with my first sodastream made dessert; jello with a twist, a bubbly twist.

Bubbly Lemon Jello
1 1/2 cups Carbonated Water via SodaStream
1/2 cup Water | boiling
1 box Lemon Jello
1 Lemon | fresh
*makes 4 servings
Start off by making your carbonated water. Fill your bottle with chilled filtered water and bubble all the way to the third stage. We want this as carbonated as it can get; we will be adding 1/2 cup of regular water to it and want to retain as much bubbles as possible.
Next you’ll mix 1/2 cup of boiling water to the jello powder. stir until completely dissolved and put in the fridge to cool. Once cooled you’ll add 1 1/2 cups of your sodastream carbonated water and divide among 4 dishes.
Cut your Lemon in thick slices and rest in the serving bowls the best way they look. If the bowls are deep, I suggest placing in the fridge for 20 minutes until they start to turn to gelatin and place the lemon slice floating on top.
Let chill another hour, serve and enjoy!

I think it’s pretty easy to see that owing a sodastream has made my life a lot more convenient; and creative. I’ve enjoyed making my own custom beverages daily, and now desserts with a twist. I have yet to buy a single can, bottle or flat of soda since and don’t plan on it ever again. If you’re considering a sodastream for your family I highly recommend it, and here are a few reasons why, other than the obvious:
Healthier; their syrups have 2/3 less sugar and calories than store bought brands
Environmental Friendly; thanks to sodastreams reusable bottles
Customization; your drink, your way. make it sweet or not so sweet, more or less bubbly. #bubblesmyway
