Sofia has been inspired by Grace VanderWaal ever since seeing her performance on America’s Got Talent in 2016. Grace sang an original song, I don’t know my name and ended up getting the Golden Buzzer which pushed her right on into the live shows.
Ever since that very day, Sofia has had her mind made up that she would one day, find her place in the music industry with none other than her voice and Ukulele. It wasn’t until recently that she convinced us this passion of her’s was something she wanted to really truly persue. We found a teacher perfect for her, that specalized in both Ukulele and Voice and never looked back.
Taking lessons now for the last 3 months, Sammy and I are really starting to see her blossom. She loves picking up the Ukulele and even moreso she pushes herself each lesson to learn more, and grow. We must remind her that Grace VanderWaal didn’t learn overnight. It will take time to find her own voice, her style and of course grasp the concept of playing an instrument and singing together.
But GOSH! Tell me she’s not doing incredible, having really just picked up the Ukulele less than 4 months ago. She’s 6! This kid surprises me everyday with her passion for music, her persistence in learning and above all her bravery for trying something new with no hesitation.
I’m so proud of my little girl. My mini Grace VanderWaal in the making. Watch out world, Sofia Marie is on her way to the top.
Have you been following along since the beginning? You just must check out when I surprised Sofia by renting a Ukulele from a music studio for a day back in August of 2017. Can you believe this video has been viewed nearly 45,000 times? Then fast forward to her very first Ukulele lesson back in April, this is where is all began.
Here we are, present day singing a Katy Perry song, Firework, working towards her next masterpiece. You’ll never guess which it is? You’ll have to watch to the end of the vlog to see. I promise. It’s worth the 4 minute watch.
