We are feeling that our garden this year is not quite up to where it was last year at this time. It’s weird how it can change so drastically each season when not much has changed as far as location or soil. Either which way we have been eating from our garden, but no where near as much as we did last year, or even the year before that. This year we’ve gotten enough Lettuce to feed a family of 12, 1 mother of a Zucchini, a handful of Blueberries, 20 or 30 Strawberries, a good 9 or 10 Onions (just like this guy), and about 15 or 20 English Peas. We have about 4 or 5 Tomatoes coming in right now, another 5 or 6 Zucchini’s, a few Cucumbers, a ton of Bush Beans, a million and one Carrots should soon be ready for the pullin, enough Rhubarb is ready for a pie or two, a few Pumpkins, and a full wall of Peas that will soon be ready to share. Our corn is almost non-existent, our Artichokes unlike the cat never came back, and well we chose not to plant potatoes this year.
I know this much is true, we are more than happy to visit our favorite u-pick farms and visit our local farmers market when we need help to stock our home with local organic goodness. If we can’t grow it, I know someone who can.
DO YOU grow a garden to feel you and your family? What are you growing?
