When an embellished toque hits an upwards of $300+ online {can’t even make this stuff up}, you know it’s time to whip out your glue gun and gems; do people actually buy this stuff?! Although very much a favorite trend of mind, the embellished beanie, we know will come and go with the chilly weather, so no need to splurge on this for the season; especially when you can DIY it for a measly $6.
Find a toque that suits your wardrobe, I went fairly neutral with an dark grey, trust me it was hard to not choose a leopard or a houndstooth. Found some very basic gems from the craft store, large enough to take up a good amount of real estate, but not too big where they looked cheap. You’ll want to position them first, make sure you like the setup before starting to glue ’em on. Get creative, have fun, and if you get stuck, you know a quick hop over pinterest will inspire you more than you need. Glue them in place with a fabric or gem glue, I snagged a bottle of mine from a dollar store near by, it’s a fabric and jewel glue that dries clear {which is key}. Let it dry for 24 hours. STYLE.
I’ll be bringing you some seriously awesome, and incredibly affordable trendy DIY’s over the next 3 weeks; why? because why not! OH YEAH and that fact that I’m working along side Nokia, testing out their fancy new Lumia 635, sharing my thoughts on the new “small budget – big perks” windows smartphone. I’ll be putting this baby to the test, the best way I know how, while shopping; let’s see if Cortana can help this indecisive girl shop, with a toddler in tow, and on a strict budget. Something tells me you won’t wanna miss this #StyledByLumia Series! Stay connected to see how it goes via instagram, twitter, and facebook.
SIDE NOTE: I hear Cortana and Siri used to be bff’s; apparently a disagreement over cost vs. quality broke them up.
