The news has hit, Disney+ is coming and it’s only 2 months away before we can watch Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Ranger on Sunday mornings again.
While there is a lot to still learn, we have some main details about the new streaming platform you’re going to want to know about. Like when it’s coming, how much it’s going to cost and what movies and shows can we expect to see.
I may have research this all for my own gains, but I figured I would share it with you all here too. I mean, there must be at least 1 or 2 of you that would appreciate it. That or maybe EVERYONE HERE WANTS TO KNOW! Because Disney is LIFE!
Here you have it, all you need to know the new streaming platform:
LAUNCH DATE FOR DISNEY+
Officials say it will be available for all us Disney lovers this November. It’s set to launch in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands first, on November 12th, 2019 and then in Australia and New Zealand on November 19th, 2019.
The platform will focus on film and TV content from Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television. With all sorts’ of fun planned for us from original films and TV series based on old shows we grew up to love and fresh new content too. Honestly, I can’t even contain myself! SO DAMN EXCITED!
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST
While there seems to be many discounts out there right, they’re only for those who are D23 members or Disney Visa Cardholder. The standard monthly rate for us regular Joe’s is said to be $6.99 US ($8.99 CAD). If you’re a D23 member (Disney’s official fan club) then you’re able to snag special pricing at around $3.92 a month when committing to a 3 year term (more details here). And, if you’re a Disney Visa Cardholder you too are getting a little pixie dust discount. They’re offering members who sign up for a 2-year subscription $20 off and those true fans who sign for 3-years a $40 discount (more details here).
WHAT SHOWS ARE ON DISNEY+
If not the biggest question of all, what movies and TV series can we expect to see? Apparently Disney is going to have 500 movies and 7,500 TV episodes available for us all…. EVENTUALLY!
While details are still coming out as excitement builds now through November, here is what we know for sure. The movie catalog will be 500 title deep, but not on day-one. We will have to be content with 300 movies at the start and wait until they add more as time goes on. I mean, this should at least last us until the new year, right?
UPDATE: List here of TV Shows and Movie Titles we can expect to see.
While the list is quite extensive to what movies and shows will be included I found CNET’s post on this to be extremely helpful. We hear we can expect to see classic series from the past (and my childhood) like Ducktales, TaleSpin, Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Ranger, and Darkwing Duck. *SCREAMS* The word “Live Specials” has also been flying around as to what we can expect to see. Although we are all still very unsure on what this means, naturally speculation have been circulating. From streaming live events at Disney parks to big events and conferences like D23 and Comic Con. I don’t know about you, but the idea of being able to live stream a Disney parade over Christmas sounds like music to my Mary Poppins lovin’ ears! YOU GUYS! This is insane!
Disney has also made an announcement about shows on the Disney Channel. Apparently all Disney Channel content, including past season will be moving over to Disney Plus. Which means you and I can watch Lizzie McQuire straight from the beginning and secretly complete all episodes of “That’s so RAVEN” after the kids go to bed. I can’t be the only one who still loves these shows?!
WHO LOVES DISNEY+
While everyone who is a friend of mine can count on a subscription as a Christmas gift this year, will everyone love the gesture?
Predictions say that Disney Plus will reach 82 million subscribers worldwide by 2024. And to that I say DISNEY FOR PRESIDENT!
