Diaper Bag Essentials: Look inside my Baby Bag

I like to think I’d be ready for almost anything that comes my way in a day. From an impromptu swim at the mall waterfountain (extra clothing), to a heart-to-heart chat with an old friend at the coffee shop (make-up wipes), to an unexpected diaper rash (baby balm).

Us mamas, we have to stay ontop of things in our Diaper Bags, expect the unexpected and plan accordingly. It’s why today we thought it’s cruial that we share our Diaper Bag Essentials with you. We’ve shared our Hospital Bag Checklist, but can you believe it? We’ve not shared “what’s in my baby bag”.

We feel like we’ve been through it all with 2 kids now. 7 years into this CEO position and I think we finally have it all figured out. Our list is going to contain some basics, like diapers, wipes, and snacks. But also, a few I have no doubt you will have missed. We take great pride in foreseeing and planning for ridiculous situations in motherhood. If this saves even one mother from a naked baby mis-hap or raccoon eyes at school pick up, my job here is done.

Diapers, Wipes, Change Pad & Hand Sanitizer: you have no idea where you’re going to end up needing to change baby. What this travel change pad has been layed on in it’s days… oh goodness! I doubt I need to tell you just how dirty a public baby change table is. Do yourself and your babe a favor and get a travel change pad.

Change of Clothing: I have never heard a mother ever complain about having an extra change of clothing around. These babes get DIRTY! Let me tell you, believe all the stories you’ve heard, it’s no exaduration. You will always need a fresh set of clothing for that time they ate too much, or colored too hard or they decided to run through the outlet mall waterfountain. That will happen, I promise you.

Wallet, Keys, Sunglasses & Water: more basic nesessities, but oh how essential they’re to a smooth day. Mom’s often forget about themselves and this is a huge mistake. Come on ladies, a little selfcare goes a long way. Pack yourself a water bottle. Who are you kidding, your day is going to be LONG that’s a promise! While were on the topic, grab a TILE too (US or Canada). Attach it to your keys and thank me next week when you find your keys in the laundry hamper.

Blanket: used as anything other than it’s original intention. A baby blanket has saved me in many occassions while being out. From a wet swing that needs to be dried, to sitting in a grocery cart that need not be sucked. A baby blanket will save you from the wettest and grosest of mishaps. It will also be there when baby needs a little nap on the run.

Hair Elastics: If I had a nickle for everytime I frantically looked for a hair elastic, I’d be Kardashian-Rich! We all start with our hair down, it’s this false hope we have that we will manage in our day. Do yourself a favor, pack the elastics for EVERYONE. You don’t know what other mama at the park is struggling. A total Diaper Bag Essential.

Camera/Phone Tripod: 70% of your time is spent just you and baby. And although I love a good mom and babe selfie, nothing is better than an actualy photo of your squeezing that baby tight. I picked mine up on amazon and I can’t tell you how many times it’s come in handy. You can attach this thing to anything, including monkey bars. Trust me, I’ve tried.

Snacks, snacks and more SNACKS: I’m convinced, no matter what age, your child will always see you as a human vending machine. Snacks are a must in your baby bag, who are you kidding?! They have also saved me in a pinch when baby falls asleep in the car. Driving around aimlessly seems to work up quite the apetite.

DIAPER BAG ESSENTIALS CONTIUNED

Hand Cream: Even far before kids I kept a good hand cream in my purse. Things have not changed as I made the official switch to a Diaper Bag. Going on with your day when you hands are dry is absolutely where I draw the line. That just isn’t happening in my world. Not when it’s so easily avoidable. It’s nice to find a cream that has dual purposes, for example we love Uriage Bariederm Insulating Repairing Hand Cream. It’s great on my hands, and also totaly safe if baby’s skin needs a little on-the-go nurishing too.

Make-Up Wipes: I didn’t always carry make-up wipes in my bag. Not until I got stuck in situation that left me with weird sympathy looks and concerning questions from parents at school pick-up. You will cry from time to time, this is just motherhood. Those hormones will sneak up on you at the best of times, likely on the day of the week you decide to put on a little make-up. In other words, put those wipes in your Baby Bag. Save yourself the “are you okay?” questions.

Repair Cream (dual purpose): I bet you’re thinking, if this lady is carrying all this cream, it better be magical. Uriage Bariederm Cica-Cream is what dreams are made of. It makes for a brilliant bum cream, also an extremely amazing sunburn relief and if we’re being honest it works like a hot-damn for shaffing too. Above all, it’s a Diaper Bag Essential.

Hydration: The newest addition to my baby bag; Uriage Eau Thermale. Similar magical abilities to the Bariederm Cica-Cream, but for whole body hydration. It’s not if you’re going to be in a state of panic at some point in the day, but when. In other words, if you have kids, your day will almost always result in some kind of caring for a cut, scrape or burn. Thermale Water to the rescue. One of it’s amazing abilities is to soothe irritated skin, thanks to its high content of calcium and magnesium salts.

And with that, this concludes our list of Diaper Bag Essentials. Oh Wait! You will want to include your child’s favorite stuffy or blanket they cannot live without.

PARENT TIP! buy an extra of your child’s favorite stuffed animal or bevolved blanky. they will lose it when you’re out. and they will refuse sleep until they get it back.
