In Vancouver, we are very much ON TIME with our seasons changing. We had sunshine on September 22nd and come September 23rd, the first day of fall, we had rain. The temperature dropped and the rain followed suit. Folks, it’s officially umbrella and rain boot season, and it’s time to change up mine and your skincare routine!
I used to think I could get away with the same skincare routine all year round but with each passing year, I get a teeny bit wiser. And over the last 5 years, I have learned that your skincare routine must change with each season, as the different weathers can wreak havoc on your skin.
So I wanted to share with you some super simple changes that you too can make to ensure your skin plays nice this fall and winter. And to boot, all of these products are FAMILY-FRIENDLY which means my hubby and little’s can enjoy the benefits too!
COLD WEATHER SKINCARE ROUTINE; BODY
The largest organ on your body is your skin, therefore taking good care of it is somewhat important. *wink*
This is why I recommend Uriage’s Cleansing Cream and their Xemose Soothing Oil Balm as my go-to cold weather duo to keep my skin nourished during these colder months. Sweaters can only hide so much during the fall and winter, so I want the only part people will see to look hydrated and glowing all the time.
I first use the cleansing cream in the shower to invigorate and wake my skin up, but you guys, this cream is a TRIPLE THREAT, because it can also be used to cleanse your face and can even be used to clean your hair!! Then pair it with my favorite Soothing Oil Balm and your skin will be screaming THANK YOU!!
This Soothing Oil Balm keeps this busy mama’s skin nourished for 48 hours! 48 HOURS! Are you kidding me?! Routines are hard to keep up and knowing myself I come last, so this allows for those days where there just isn’t enough time for me. It continually works hard and gives me the beautiful carefree skin I want!
COLD WEATHER; FACE
If there is a quote that encompasses my skincare routine it’s probably “kill 2 birds with 1 stone”. And this is exactly what Uriage’s Roseliane CC Cream 30 is for me. While it adds moisturizer to my face in the mornings, it also has all-day makeup coverage making the 5-minute face routine before school drop-off absolutely possible!
And for those nights where you have been one step ahead all day, take some time for yourself with this amazing pumpkin spiced face mask recipe.
You love your Pumpkin Spice Latte, and just made a batch of our Pumpkin Spice Banana Loaf. Furthermore, those Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Bagels you bought and consumed all in 3 days says you’re going to love this face mask!
Pumpkin Spice Face Mask
- 1 tbsp Pumpkin // raw, fresh, pure
- 1/2 tsp Honey
- 1/2 tsp Greek Yogurt // plain
- Cinnamon
Mix everything together. Spread a thin layer evenly on your clean and freshly washed face. Keep on for 5 minutes. Wash off with warm water and follow up with moisturizer.
NOTE: skip the sprinkle of cinnamon if you have sensitive skin as it can cause burning and redness.
Pumpkin and Honey are a brilliant duo for your skin this Fall. While Pumpkin is high in vitamins A, C and E and helps remove dead skin cells, honey draws water to the skin while locking in moisture. Told yah they’re a good team! Watch out Batman and Robin here comes Pumpkin and Honey!
COLD WEATHER; HANDS & LIPS
Two of my biggest pet peeves during the colder months are dry hands and chapped lips. ANYONE ELSE? In my eyes, there is honestly nothing worst. The only way I have found to avoid this is by being prepared. I keep a good hand cream and chapstick in all my purses at all times. This is why they invented travel-sized items, right?
My favorite on-the-go cream is Uriage’s Bariederm Hand Cream which is soothing and quick absorbing which is extremely important for someone who is always on the move. This hand cream repairs, protects and nourishes your hands quickly so you can continue on your way.
Next up in this phenomenal line up is Uriage’s Bariederm Cica-Lips lip balm. It’s the first lip balm formulated with Poly-2p, an innovative patented complex which offers a triple action, a high tolerance and long-lasting formula. I actually think I could save myself some serious purse real estate if I toss the rest and just keep this!
For me, the number one rule when it comes to your skincare routine during these cold months is to STAY MOISTURIZED. And that’s exactly my plan this year! While Uriage is considered a luxury skincare brand, I think you will surprised to find their prices very affordable and what I love the most is that all of their products I can be used safely for my whole family!
Do you use any Uriage products? What are your favorites?
