Isn’t it funny how an event or moment can mold into a family tradition so quickly? It’s sorta’ the case with baking cookies while watching a Christmas movie over the Holidays. It doesn’t just happen once in this house, I mean come on a dozen cookies only lasts a night of binge watching Homeland, right? Sofia and I bake cookies over the holidays at least 3 or 4 times, and along with being paired with a huge flour’y mess it also goes perfectly with a Christmas cartoon or classic Christmas movie.
This time, we tried a new recipe, which I will not share as I would love to spare you added stress over the Holidays. The concept was great, a candy cane cookie; half the dough colored in red and the other half left white rolling and twisting to make the most adorable candy cane looking sugar cookie. The dough was crumbly, and then sticky and then because I added more flour became crumbly again, needless to say it was not a success. Nor a recipe I will be sharing today.
We did the very best we could to salvage the dough and make the most of it, it’s a good thing we had Netflix on, with a Christmas Timmy Time going on in the back to keep the festive moment alive. At the end of the day the cookies tasted good, and maybe even delicious if you closed your eyes while eating them. If anyone has a recipe for a cookie like this that has been successful I would love to have it, give it another try with a better outcome.
